I Wear Many Hats (and it’s not always pretty) | Day 14
Being a founder is often glamorized in the media, and I can see why. Turning an idea from nothing into something real is like pure magic. A wizardry of sorts.
But there's a messy side to it that often gets overlooked.
To reach success, you have to dodge distractions, wade through failures, and silence the skeptics. Right now, I'm in the thick of it all. The sheer number of roles you need to play when starting a company can be overwhelming.
You've got to set plans, communicate with your team, keep the board informed, run tests, draft emails, stay active on social media, test your product, hold focus groups, decide on your tech stack, build websites, secure funding, hire talent, create legal documents, adjust strategies, network, seek advice from mentors, handle accounting, crunch numbers, pitch to clients, develop a sales strategy, execute that strategy, learn graphic design, pick up coding, send weekly newsletters, stay knowledgeable, keep an eye on the competition...the list goes on and on.
It's no wonder many people throw in the towel early. But that's not me. If I fail, it won't be for lack of trying, even if some of these proverbial 'hats' don't quite fit my head.
Sure, it can get tough, lonely, and downright frustrating. But the thought of the difference I could make in people's lives through The Well Home keeps me going. The potential of what could be, and what WILL be, fuels me.
I think about it before bed. And it's the first thing on my mind when I wake up. This is how I know I'm on the right path and doing what I was meant to do.
I won't lie — I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. But I take it one day at a time, one 'hat' at a time, all the while making sure to look after my health knowing this journey is more of a marathon than a sprint. They say persistence pays off, and I'm banking on that.
The uncertainty of each day has become something I cherish. I see it not as a burden, but as a privilege. It's a chance to serve you and do what I love.
No matter what hat I have to wear tomorrow, I'll do it with integrity and determination. Because that’s who I am, and that’s what any founder needs to do.
Let's f'ing do this!
